Make an internal tool for generating social media images to relieve a bottleneck of employee effort and reinforce branding.

Our Overall Goal

While balancing workload and project deadlines, create a product which saves time in delivering engaging social media images to kick start a new marketing department.

Our Detailed Goals

  • Reduce time from idea to posting to under 15 minutes

  • Any user could generate a social image without training

  • The tool can operate outside of the design team

  • Reinforce brand through a variety of image types

  • Do not take up development team time

 
 

 

Our Process

Research & Insights

We researched social images for ourselves, our competitors and other accounts to identify images with high interaction rates and what image variety was possible for us to generate.

A major insight - posts containing quick hits of information or positive emotions attached to credit goals had the highest interaction rate.

Concept & Design

The concept was to have a stepped process for a simple and fast user flow, making use of image based selection and Bootstrap default styling.

Insight discovered along the way - it is easier for people to imagine the post they want if they see it in a social-like gallery format, making the image grid selection a great starting point.

Development & Testing

Thanks to support from our development team, and a timely internet search or two, we achieved our goal of minimal employee time pulled from other projects. Testing was informally conducted at different times throughout development and was very valuable.

Insight discovered along the way - though it makes sense to view the function in a stepped process, it was easier for the end users to see everything together on one page.

 

 

Our Results

We were able to generate more social content with greater consistency - all at a reduced cost to employee time and effort. Mobile device compatibility increased flexibility, and our Marketing team was able to focus on creativity of content and post in a timely manner.

Version 2 and Beyond…

Further development of this product would be an improved user interface, bulk uploading of text data, more efficient code and an increased amount of image options.
